Is it live, or is it matte painting?

Saturday, 7 p.m., downtown L.A. looking west: I would have thought this was a great matte painting or stage backdrop ... had I not seen it in real life with my own eyes. The camera did a good job capturing what I saw and sensed, though:






















It was en route to see Robert Beltran's play Solitude, so I guess that qualifies it for Trekland ...
